S.M.S. Von der Tann - Germany's first battle-cruiser was better armoured but more lightly armed than the British Invincible class. She was also Germany's first capital ship fitted with Turbines.

Derfflinger class - Germany's first battle-cruisers to mount a 12-inch main armament. S.M.S. Derfflinger was the first German capital ship fitted with 88mm anti-aircraft guns.
